Some frightening moments for people in a home in Des Moines County Wednesday. According to the sheriff's office, a man entered the home armed with a handgun and a knife. Deputies were called to the scene in the 6,000 block of 108th Ave., where they were told that the suspect pointed the gun at resident and then fired it inside the home.
The suspect was identified as 54-year-old Michael Kartel of West Burlington. Using a search warrant, authorities seized a knife and handgun from Kartel's home, which are believed to have been used in the assault.
Kartel is being charged with going armed with intent and aggravated assault.
