There's more evidence that the nation's drought is getting worse at a far faster rate. The latest Drought Monitor Report released Thursday says the prospects for even short-term relief are now being described by experts as grim and still months away.

According to University of Nebraska Climatologist, Mark Svoboda, "It doesn't look very good at all. The next two to four weeks, that will take us into August, look very hot and very dry."

According to the report, just more than 60 percent of the Midwest was in some stage of drought last week. This week it's 70 percent and rain to stop the cycle is still nowhere in the forecast.

More than half of Iowa, the country's top corn and soybean-growing state, is in severe drought this week, three times as much territory as last week.
