The former comptroller of Dixon, Il was in court Monday morning for a status hearing. Rita Crundwell is accused of stealing more than $53 million from the city since 1990. The Federal Bureau of Investigation says the money was used to fund her horse breeding business and lavish lifestyle.

At the hearing, Crundwell's attorney asked for more time to prepare for pretrial motions. The court granted the request.

Meanwhile, authorities are starting to sell off Crundwell's assets. Appointments can be made to see her 2009 luxury coach motor home. Bidding started at a million dollars and continues until august.

Authorities seized other assets as well, including 400 horses. The U.S. Marshals Service is in the process of selecting a company to auction them off.

Crundwell has pleaded not guilty to wire fraud. Her next hearing is set for August 29, 2012.
