UPDATE: SAC CITY, Iowa (AP) - A third bicyclist participating in The Des Moines Register's annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa has been injured after a collision with a car near Lake View.
The Sac County Sheriff's Department said Michael Sean McGowan, 44, of Miami, Fla., was hospitalized after being thrown into the windshield of a car that struck him near Lake View at around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday.
He was the third person injured on the third day of the ride.
Two bicyclists were hit by a car while riding about four miles south of Sac City around 5:30 a.m.
Thirty-eight-year-old Dennis Murphy, of Urbandale, was taken to Loring Hospital in Sac City, and then flown to Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. He's listed in good condition. The other bicyclist suffered only scrapes.

SAC COUNTY, Iowa - WHO-TV in Des Moines is reporting that two soldiers were injured Tuesday morning when a truck hit one of them while riding on RAGBRAI in northwest Iowa. They're identified as SFC Shane Schreck and Maj. Dennis Murphy, who were riding with the Army Reserve team at around 5:30 AM.
WHO-TV reports the accident happened near Lake View when a truck struck Murphy from behind, casting debris that hit Schreck and forced him to ground his bike. The Sac County Sheriff says the driver of the truck did not see the bikers because he was blinded by the headlights of oncoming traffic.
According to WHO-TV, Schreck says Murphy has a separated shoulder and a broken elbow. He is listed in good condition. Schreck suffered only scrapes and road rash, but his bike was destroyed.
