It was one year ago today that a detasseling accident in Tampico, Illinois killed two teenage girls. Jade Garza and Hannah Kendall were killed while working in a farm field. They were electrocuted when they came into contact with an irrigator.

Many families across the QCA will pay their respects to the two girls who lost their lives one year ago today.

Jade and Hannah were both fourteen years old, and best friends, from Sterling. They were working for Monsanto Corp. when the company says they, along with other detasselers, were electrically shocked by a center pivot irrigation system. Jade and Hannah were the only ones who didn't survive the shock.

Now, one year later the two girls will be remembered across the QCA. One memorial you can attend is at 6:30 PM Wednesday in Sterling. They're meeting in the fields between Challand Middle School and Jefferson Elementary School.

Friends and family remembering Jade and Hannah are asked to bring balloons to release into the sky, as they share memories about the two best friends.

Another memorial is in Centennial Park in Rock Falls, it's the "Annual Remembrance Walk For Hannah and Jade" and it will go from 9 to 10 PM. Those planning to attend the memorial are asked to wear their Hannah and Jade shirts.

We're told there is another event this weekend to honor the girls. There will be a "Memorial Ride for Hannah and Jade" taking place Saturday at "The Cooler" in Rock Falls.
