RAGBRAI riders will be greeted by traditional food and late night activities when they arrive in Anamosa, Iowa on Friday.

But they will also encounter several signs advertising for vacant physician positions at the town's Jones Regional Medical Center.

"We are trying to hire people we are looking for doctors," Sheila Tjaden, Director of Public Relations at Jones Regional, told KWQC.

"We are hoping that physicians do come by and really see what Jones Regional Medical Center is all about," Tjaden added.

The hospital has five vacant positions and according to the CEO the hospital is having trouble recruiting qualified candidates.

"It is a challenge to really attract physicians to rural facilities. Our hurdle is just getting them here to see the facility a lot of physicians will just read the advertisement and go where is Anamosa?" Eric Briesemeister, CEO, said.

With over ten thousand people biking through Anamosa, hospital leaders hope a few of them are doctors looking for a change in their work environment.

The hospital will offer tours of the facility and provide homemade pies to interested RAGBRAI riders as well.
