Former Davenport Mayor Pat Gibbs pleaded guilty to second degree theft charges Friday morning in Scott County Court.

Gibbs was accused of stealing from his employer, Del Rich Pawn Shop, on third street in Davenport. Police say it added up to almost $10,000.

The charges are a Class D Felony and could land Gibbs in prison for up to five years. According to the States Attorney's Office, they are recommending against incarceration and they will not be recommending deferred judgment. Gibbs is ordered to pay restitution to Del Rich of $9,760. Sentencing will be September 13, 2012 at 9:00 a.m.

Mr. Gibbs was on the Davenport Police force from 1979 to 2001. He served as the mayor of Davenport for six year, from 1992 to 1998 and also served as a Scott County supervisor from 1998 to 2002.
