The Quad Cities' self proclaimed "biggest homecoming party" kicks off Friday morning in downtown Davenport. Aside from the vendors, arts & crafts and music which are seen at Street Fest every year, this year organizers are working to make it bigger and better.
This year marks the 41st anniversary of Street Fest and this year, many new businesses will be taking part in the fun. The Barrel House, located on 2nd Street, is hosting a Bix bash which will fill Second Street with live music all weekend. A brand new business, Davinci's Cocktails and Dining, will be opening up bright and early to cater to the thousands of people who will be visiting for the weekend.
Jason Gilliand, the Director of Events for the Quad City Chamber says, "one of the big new things that we're having this year is Saturday at noon, the Firefighter Water Fight. It's going to be on Second Street, just east of Ripley, and it's basically a reverse tug of war, we have different teams of firefighters coming in."
If you're hungry, there'll be food vendors from across the QCA as well as from across the country.
The streets in downtown Davenport will be buzzing all weekend long. Friday's hours are from 10:00 a.m. to Midnight and Saturday, the party runs from 9:00 a.m. to Midnight. If you're looking for a complete list of happenings as well as band schedules, check out the website.
