An escaped inmate from the East Moline Correctional Center had authorities on edge for over an hour Wednesday morning.

According to the Illinois Department of Corrections, at approximately 8:50 a.m., inmate David Stodolny escaped from the Correctional Center. Authorities say he was apprehended before 10:00 a.m., a quarter mile from the facility and is currently in IDOC custody.

According to the IDOC report, "The department takes escape incidents extremely seriously and is actively investigating the circumstances behind this incident. IDOC's top priority is the safety and security of facilities and the general public and the department will continue to reinforce security related policies during the ongoing investigation."
