The City of East Moline is about to begin a construction project on Kennedy Drive between 17th Avenue (IL 92) and Avenue of the Cities. Work will include concrete pavement patching and street resurfacing as well as associated work on drainage structures. Existing sidewalks and pedestrian ramps along the street will be removed and replaced to meet new Federal ADA standards. The intersection at Kennedy Drive and 30th Avenue will be reconfigured to provide improved safety and traffic flow. Additionally, the existing water main must be replaced from 25th Ave to 30th Ave. Water services will be replaced to residents' property lines in this area.
Finally, existing curbside parking lanes will be reconfigured into dedicated bicycle lanes.
The project is scheduled to begin Monday, August 6, 2012 weather permitting.
During construction, no parking will be permitted on the street however, the road will remain open to two-way traffic and access will be provided to residents and businesses as necessary.
The project is scheduled to be completed in November.
The City of East Moline apologizes for the temporary inconvenience that is always caused by construction, but we hope that motorists, pedestrian and cyclists alike will soon appreciate these much needed improvements. As always, we encourage the public to exercise patience and consideration of others. Your cooperation with the city and the construction crews is the key in making this a successful project.
