Each year, United Way of the Quad Cities Area serves more than thirty thousand seniors. On Thursday, some United Way volunteers brightened the day for seniors at the InTouch Adult Day Services Agency in Moline. They helped with gardening, and played games with some of the adults.

This year, InTouch has received about sixty eight thousand dollars in United Way funds to help pay for programs and services. InTouch provides adult day care, serving about eighty clients a day. Mary Bivens from the agency says United Way money is used in many ways. One of the most important is to provide transportation services for seniors who have to visit a doctor.

Carol Loete visits Intouch several days a week. She lives alone, and says it's very enjoyable to spend time at InTouch rather than sitting at home. Carol likes to be around other people and has made several friends at the adult center.

Volunteer Tanya Buckley says it's nice to know that contributions to United Way go right back into the community. Donations to United Way's Funded Programs help to meet food, shelter, daycare and other needs. There are ninety of these programs around the Quad Cities.
