Burlington police are investigating the death of a woman found unresponsive inside a home early Thursday morning. Police were called to a home in the 800 block of S. 8th Street to conduct a welfare check on a person who had been involved in a domestic dispute. Officers broke into the home and found the woman dead inside.

According to police, the cause and manner of death are still being investigated. The Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation has been called in to assist in the case.
