Boom, boom, boomerang! Kendall Davis of Rock Island makes boomerangs. It is the world's oldest, one piece flying instrument.

Davis designs returning boomerangs. He says it's thrilling to know that he can throw something, have it turn around and come back to him!

Kendall got hooked on the hobby 25 years ago. Many of the boomerangs he makes weigh about three ounces. He roughs out the shape, and fine tunes the plywood. He also paints them. He has made thousands over the years.

As a boomerang flies through the air, it tumbles over itself. Davis points out that the aerodynamics change throughout the flight. The best flights will be achieved in light winds.

The boomerang, Davis says, is proof that great things do come back.
