Scott County Auditor Roxanna Moritz plans to address the board of supervisors Tuesday regarding an investigation being conducted by the Iowa Secretary of State into alleged voter fraud.

In a news release Monday, Moritz said she has requested that Secretary Matt Schultz release the names of up to 180 individuals from Scott County who are said to be under state investigation, so that her staff can begin the process of "locally investigating and retrieving voting records out of storage."

According to the Associated Press, Schultz has been named in a lawsuit claiming he overstepped his bounds by adopting rules to remove noncitizens who are improperly registered to vote. Schultz's office is said to be looking into 1,000 such cases.

The Republican said in a statement last week that his office identified the voters and recently obtained access to a government database of naturalized U.S. citizens to check their status. The individuals could include illegal immigrants and individuals who are in the U.S. legally on green cards, but do not have voting rights.

Moritz, who ran for auditor as a Democrat, says she will also review the efforts of her office for maintaining accurate voting records and registration lists. She plans to address the county board and take questions from members of the media Tuesday morning at 8.
