UPDATE:  Ms. Boysen will take her London trip in March!  She'll be taking her mother, Bambi, as her free guest.  Her sister, Adair, will also tag along.  Bay says they can't wait to see Big Ben.

Bay will appear live on Quad Cities Today on December 27 to talk about her trip.

ORIGINAL STORY:

COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa - Bay Boysen was sound asleep Tuesday morning just before 7:00 AM when KWQC TV6 announced the name of the winner of BankORION's Trip Across the Pond sweepstakes.

Minutes after the announcement on Quad Cities Today, Boysen's phone rang.  The wake-up call was from her high school Spanish teacher who informed Boysen that she had just won a trip to a place where her Spanish skills will not be necessary.

"She said I had won the trip to London," Boysen says. "I just couldn't believe it!"

Boysen says she loves to travel, but "the only place I've ever been is Mexico" with, ironically, the same Spanish teacher who broke the news that London is calling.

"The Olympics just happened, and I loved the Olympics," Boysen says.  "I've never been to Europe; this is great!"

Boysen gets to take one guest, and there is no shortage of interested family members and friends.  "Everybody's saying ‘take me, take me,'" Boysen says.  "So, I'm not sure yet who I'll pick."

The sweepstakes allowed viewers to enter once a day on KWQC's Facebook fan page.  Boysen says she entered four times and would have entered more if she had not been busy preparing to show livestock at the Iowa State Fair in Des Moines.

Boysen, 18, grew up in Columbus Junction and recently graduated from Wapello High School.  Few things could rival her excitement to start her freshman year at Iowa State University next week, except, perhaps, winning a trip to London.

"I can't wait," Boysen says.  "It's going to be so much fun!"
