An update on something many Quad Citians are wondering about and anxiously awaiting - when Davenport's River Drive is going to re-open. The city now says crews are shooting for September 7th to bring the barricades down from Iowa Street to Oneida Avenue.

That section has been closed down for nearly three months now. Because of surprises underneath the surface this section, phases one and two of the $2.3 million project, has seen several changes to the work and timeline. The last estimated finish date was the end of August.

"We're very confident," said Public Works Director Mike Clarke, "the asphalt is scheduled to be delivered and laid down next week. Get a little time to cure and we'll get in there and fix all the manhole covers and things that have to be leveled off before we can open it up to traffic. It's going to be a great street."

From here, crews will close down Bridge to Mound street for four to five weeks. After that the final phase goes from Mound to the eastern city limits. That phase will be head to head is also expected to take four to five weeks to finish up late November to early December.
