The Davenport City Council approved a big development Wednesday night. Aldermen agreed to sell a section of land at Harrison and 13th Street to a developer.
The Harrison Lofts Project is a 60 unit apartment complex with commercial space at the bottom. Concerns over parking delayed the sale, but the developer says the parking issue has been resolved.
A preliminary deal has been signed with Iowa American Water to lease space near its water tower.
"I'm happy to report we've made great progress, in fact we have a memorandum of understanding that's been signed by Iowa American Water," says Jackie Nickolaus, the V.P. Of Development with Sherman Associates.
Construction is set to start in a few weeks. The apartment building is expected to open in the fall of 2013.
