It's been an eyesore in downtown Davenport for two years --

Now, the old "Riverside Plaza" is up for sale. But it's not in good shape.

It's the abandoned entrance to the city. The old hotel located at 227 Leclaire St. Has transferred ownership multiple times. And while the title has been in limbo for years, the building has deteriorated immensely.

"We've had to board the building up because of vandalism," said Davenport Alderman Gene Meeker. "We've had a number of calls to the police department because of forced entries."

There's extensive damage to the building -- all the copper is gone, stolen by scrappers. All of the mirrors and glass inside is broken. Even though it's been boarded up numerous times, vandals and squatters continue to break-in.

KWQC located a spot where a board had been ripped off near the indoor pool area. Just taking a peek inside could turn anyone's stomach -- garbage and graffiti fill the walls and the pool itself.

The city had an architect analyze the property. The architect recommended demolition. But there's a chance someone could still try and rehabilitate it.

"While the structure is sound, it has been vandalized. A lot of the plumbing and electrical is no longer operational," said listing agent John Ruhl, Ruhl & Ruhl. "But we aren't counting out the opportunity that somebody may look at preserving the structure."

What real estate agents are marketing is the property location. It's downtown, on the riverfront, with several highways nearby. Buyers may also be eligible for tax incentives.

The hotel is currently listed at $1.1 million.
