Two separate neighborhoods in Bettendorf are on edge after a couple of home burglaries. Some residents now plan to take action.

Police say burglars broke into a home on the 4700 block of Blackhawk Trail Court and another on the 4200 block of Palm Drive Wednesday. Both are newer, outlying neighborhoods and all of this happened during broad day light while no one was home. Investigators aren't saying if they're connected at this point. They sent an automated message to residents warning them and looking for information. The Beaver Crossing area is working on starting a neighborhood watch, saying this isn't the first incident recently.

"My sense of security was definitely impacted after the second burglary out here in the neighborhood. I never thought about covering up windows so much as I do now," said Cheryl Garland.

Residents are asked to report suspicious people or vehicles in their area by calling 911.
