Terronez Familia! The Terronez Family from Silvis will honor a loved one in a very special way on Saturday morning. More than 20 family members plan to participate in The Walk To End Alzheimers.

Family members have made more than a hundred dozen enchiladas and have been selling them. They have donated the money, more than 13 hundred dollars, to the local Alzheimer's Association.

Rosendo Terronez was the patriarch of the family. He was diagnosed with Alzheimers in 2005, and died a few years later. Rosendo was married to the love of his life, Cecelia, for 62 years. Eighty six year old Cecelia misses her dancing partner.

The family will walk as a team on Saturday in memory of Rosendo. Like hundreds of other people, they are trying to bring awareness, hoping that someday there will be a cure.

Family members say Rosendo made everybody feel like they were the apple of his eye. He went to father-daughter dances. He frequently attended sporting events involving kids in the family.

The walk begins at 9am, Saturday near the I-Wireless Center in Moline. Last year, the walk raised about 76 thousand dollars. The money is used for research, education, and care consultation, among other things.
