The death of two people found inside a burning home in Mercer County has been ruled a murder-suicide. Back in July, firefighters responded to a call of an explosion in a house on North 200th Street, north of Aledo, Illinois.

At a coroner's inquest Thursday, an investigator testified that the home was in flames and locked with deadbolt, so first-responders had to break a window to get in.

Once inside, they found the body of 40-year-old Patti Lindquist. After the fire was put out, they found the body of 53-year-old Tim Meade. The detective also testified that Lindquist had four gunshot wounds. Meade died of a single shotgun wound to the head.

The corner's jury unanimously ruled that Meade shot Lindquist and then shot himself.
