It pierced our hearts, the night she died. She left the world too soon. Those are some of the lyrics from Hunters Moon. It's a song Quad City musician Ellis Kell wrote in memory of his late daughter Karli Rose.

Karli Rose Kell was seventeen years old when she died in an automobile accident ten years ago. She was a senior at Rock Island High School.

I saw Karli Rose last night, in the face of the Hunter's Moon. Those are also lyrics included in the song. Ellis Kell, his daughter Ali, and some other friends say they saw Karli's face in the moon, not long after Karli died in October of 2002. That experience motivated Ellis to write the song.

On Sunday, September 9th, Ellis Kell's Band and several other musicians will perform at Moondance on the Riverfront. The event starts at 2pm at Schwiebert Park in Rock Island. Money raised will go toward the Karli Rose Kell Music Scholarship at River Music Experience. Ellis Kell works at RME. The money will be used to help pay for music lessons or rental of musical instruments for less fortunate children.

Karli Rose Kell was a talented singer. She planned to attend Augustana College. She loved music and she loved people.

Ellis and Kristi Kell remember the loving message their daughter once sent to her dad. It was a cartoon, reminding Ellis to smile. He says Karli Rose was a very happy person.

Moondance on the Riverfront has raised more than fifty thousand dollars in scholarship money since it started several years ago.
