DAVENPORT, Iowa - An interview of Ann Romney, wife of Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, that aired Friday, September 7, 2012 on KWQC made national headlines.

KWQC anchor David Nelson interviewed Mrs. Romney via satellite regarding her views on women's issues including birth control and gay marriage.

Portions of Nelson's interview were picked up by numerous national news outlets including ABC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, the Washington PostHuffington Post, The Hill and National Journal.  The interview was also the subject of discussions by MSNBC's Martin Bashir and Ed Schultz.

Within 24 hours, the interview had generated dozens of stories and was the subject of hundreds of posts on Twitter.  CNN.com reported Friday evening that the interview was trending online.

On Monday, September 10, Nelson's interview of Mrs. Romney was the subject of a Los Angeles Times editorial written by Karin Klein.

On Thursday, September 13, Irin Carmon referenced the interview in an article she wrote for online magazine Salon.

On Friday, September 14, Newsweek and The Daily Beast senior contributing writer Michelle Goldberg wrote an article contrasting remarks made that day by Republican vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan to remarks Mrs. Romney had made in her interview with Nelson the previous week.
