One teen is dead, four people are arrested in connection with the crime.
Rock Island police responded to several 911 calls about shots fired in the area of 10th Street and 11th Avenue Friday afternoon, just before 3:30. Officers tell us when they arrived, a 17-year old was on the front porch. Kion Lewis had been hit by a single bullet. He was taken to a local hospital, where he later died.
Several shell casings were found on the ground, and two cars were also hit. Some witnesses have been interviewed. Police say, so far, four people have been arrested and are charged with first degree murder. Three of them are behind bars tonight, 30-year old Kelvin Shaw, 27-year old Andre Shaw and 17-year old Jordan Murphy. A 16-year old was also arrested. Because that person is a juvenile, police are not releasing an identity.
At this point, police have released no possible motive for this shooting. They tell us they continue to investigate, and ask anyone with any information to call the police department or Crime Stoppers.
