Hopes to bring some 300 jobs back to Rock Island were dashed this week when the city learned that the deal had fallen through.
Back in 2009, the Seaford Clothing Company in Rock Island closed its doors, sending 300 people to the unemployment line. Then this past April, the company announced plans to reopen and bring many of those old employees back.
The state of Illinois partnered with the city to offer a $3.4 million grant to be used to renovate the old building. But now, the company says it's own financier won't allow it to expand at this time.
