An investigation into a Burlington house fire has uncovered evidence it was intentionally set. The early morning fire occurred at 2251 South 10th St. on August 30, 2012.

According to the Burlington Fire Marshal, Mark Crooks, the house was a rental unit owned by Mike Hoffman and occupied by Terry Johnson. According to the report, it was a total loss. Officials say the home was valued at $50,000 and was insured; however Mr. Johnson did not have renters insurance for contents valued at $5,000.

Eleven Burlington firefighters responded to the fire around 3:17 a.m. and found the front of the house fully involved. Officials say no one was home at the time of the fire and there were no injuries.

The Burlington Police and Fire Departments are continuing to investigate the case and encourage anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 75-DO-TELL (753-6835)
