The Iowa Secretary of State's office is investigating the citizenship of 3,500 Iowa voters, and the Scott County Auditor wants a list of names.
"We know that there are probably people in our county that are not U.S. citizens that are voting," said Roxanna Moritz. "We don't want people voting that shouldn't be voting. This is not a question of that, this is a question of process."
Moritz wants to know what she can do to make sure non U.S. citizens are not voting in Scott County.
"We've asked numerously. Give us the names. We'll be happy to go out, we'll hire someone, we'll run down the names that you have so we can be prepared before the election." But Moritz has not received a list of names. Nor has she received a possible number of registered voters who may not be citizens.
Moritz says it's becoming difficult to prepare for Election Day --
"We have a process, before we prepare our poll workers to go work, where we pull down all the data of the active registrants."
But less than two months from Nov. 6, there's no list. Making the job of a poll worker gets more difficult.
"I understand the integrity of the voter, and the name, and making sure that that's protected," Moritz said. "but we could have just done it locally and been prepared before the election to ensure the integrity."
