There are big changes in the stock market that are affecting some local companies. Later this month, UnitedHealth Group is going to replace Kraft Foods on the Dow Jones Average of 30 Industrials. The parent company of UnitedHealthcare is the first health insurer to be included in the blue chip index.

Kraft is in the process of splitting into two businesses, which will moving to the NASDAQ. We asked KWQC financial expert, Jim Victor, what the departure from the Dow might mean for Kraft and its plant in Davenport.

"Kraft will likely lose no public attention as a result of this. In the course of the last week, they've held numerous meetings with analysts and investors to let them know about the two different parts of what has been Kraft--the international snack operation and in deed, the North American grocery business of which our Oscar Mayer operations remain a key part. So, with all that additional attention on the two new businesses, probably the loss of membership in the Dow Jones average will be nearly meaningless."

United health care is expected to benefit from all the attention it gets from moving to the Dow. It also has operations in the Quad Cities.

"For United Health Care, it's definitely a step-up as far as public relations. More people will begin to know and understand the company and surely understand its Quad City operations," Victor added.

UnitedHealthcare is the largest health insurance company in the nation with both clients and employees in the area. It moves to the Dow on Sept. 24.
