ROCK ISLAND, Illinois – Alleman High School football coach David DeJaegher received a remarkably detailed scouting report on opponent LaSalle-Peru a few days before the two teams played each other on August 24.
According to a report in the Chicago Tribune, the 10-page scouting report contained specifics on LaSalle-Peru's offense and defense along with confidential information on the skill levels, strengths and weaknesses of each Cavalier player.
Alleman defeated LaSalle-Peru 35-0.
The scouting report, said to have been delivered anonymously, even listed LaSalle-Peru players' medical histories and suggested preying on those who had been injured.
"I've never had anything close to this," DeJaegher told the Tribune. "I thought it was weird."
According to the LaSalle NewsTribune, Alleman officials mailed the information packet back to L-P officials. All nine of LaSalle-Peru's opponents reportedly received the same material.
Last week, LaSalle-Peru, southwest of Chicago, placed teacher Jake Burke on paid administrative leave in connection with the ongoing investigation, according to the NewsTribune.
While they stopped short of saying the former coach is the target of an investigation, district officials said he has been placed on leave as part of an ongoing probe into the leaked materials.
The LaSalle-Peru football team is 1-3 so far this year, being outscored 92-6 in its three defeats.
