If you have plans for early voting before election day in November, you're not alone. So far, for the November election, there have been 9,300 requests for absentee ballots in Scott County. That's about 20 percent of overall voters county administrators expect to see this election.
In 2008, four in 10 ballots were absentee and the prediction this year is that the number will be even higher.
Scott County Auditor, Roxanna Moritz went door to door over the weekend, letting residents know about absentee voting.
"I think it's comfortable. They can vote from home, get their ballot, do it at their leisure. They have the opportunity to look at the candidates and do an investigation and make an educated choice."
Early voting for Iowa begins September 27, 2012. Registered voters can vote by mail, at the auditors officeor at satellite locations starting mid-October.
