The female passenger in a single car crash that occurred in the early hours of last Thursday morning in Davenport, Iowa has died. The Scott County Medical Examiner's Office has confirmed that 24-year-old Ruth Hilary Hoover of Davenport, Iowa, died at the University of Iowa Hospital. An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.

Original Story From 9/13/12:

A single car accident in Davenport sent three people to the hospital, one with serious injuries. The accident happened around 3:00 a.m. Thursday, when police say a car driven by 29-year-old Trenton Thornburg of Blue Grass, Iowa, hit a railroad bridge.

Police say Thornburg was traveling west on Kirkwood Blvd. when he lost control in the 1900 block. The vehicle slid a considerable distance before colliding with the railroad bridge.

According to the police report, Mr. Thornburg and the front seat passenger, Joshua Croxtin, were treated and released from Genesis East Hospital. The back seat passenger, Ruth Hoover, was air lifted to the University of Iowa Hospital with serious life threatening injuries.

Police say that alcohol is not believed to be a factor at this time but do think that speed factored into the cause.

The accident remains under investigation.
