Davenport Police say they have arrested the suspect from a Labor Day weekend shooting. On Saturday morning, September 1, 2012, around 10:14, officers responded to 418 E. 8th Street to a report of "Shots Fired". There they found 21-year-old Derrick Levy, who had sustained a non-life-threatening single gun-shot wound in the back, near the left shoulder blade.
According to the report, Levy stated he was smoking a cigarette on his front porch when the driver of an eastbound vehicle stopped in front of the residence and fired several rounds at him. Upon a follow-up investigation the shooter was identified as 27-year-old Quinton Sentle Howard of Davenport, Iowa. Multiple warrants were issued for his arrest.
On Tuesday night, September 18, 2012, Davenport Police Units spotted Howard in the area of 5th and Marquette. The suspect fled on foot and ended up on the roof of a house in the 400 block of Marquette. Police say Howard attempted to escape by jumping from the roof and suffered minor injuries.
Howard was booked into Scott County Jail with the following charges from the September 1st shooting;
Assault - Willful Injury - Causing Serious Injury, a Class "C" Felony.
Assault - Intimidation with a Dangerous Weapon - Injure/Provoke Fear/Anger, a Class "C" Felony.
Going Armed with Intent.
And Felon in Possession of a Firearm
Howard was also wanted for two un-related incidents and booked accordingly for those charges;
Failure to Appear - Sentencing on a Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree, for a January 8, 2012 incident that occurred in the 800 block of W. 4th Street, Davenport, Iowa. In that incident, police say Howard attempted to run over Levy in the parking lot and struck another vehicle and left.
Failure to Appear - Sentencing on an Assault Resulting in Bodily Injury, for a January 29, 2012, incident in Illinois for a Domestic Battery.
Mr. Howard is being held at the Scott County Jail on a cash only bond for $37,000.
