DAVENPORT, Iowa - The Quad Cities River Bandits will announce its new major league affiliation Monday at 2 PM at the Mediacom Lounge inside Modern Woodmen Park.

Previous story:

DAVENPORT, Iowa- We don't yet know which major league team the Quad Cities River Bandits will affiliate with next, but the team's name will definitely begin with the letter "A."

The three remaining possibilities are the Houston Astros, Los Angeles Angels, and Oakland A's.

The Bandits' eight-year relationship with the St. Louis Cardinals is officially over as this week the Cardinals announced a new four-year deal with the Peoria Chiefs.

"It's unfortunate; they were a great partner," says Bandits general manager Stefanie Brown, "but it makes sense for [the Cardinals] geographically.  Peoria is closer."

If proximity is weighed in the Bandits' choice of a new major league club, the Astros would have the clear advantage over the two California clubs – but Brown says to not read into that.

"There's no frontrunner right now," Brown says, adding that the Bandits have had discussions with all three teams.

Brown says the Bandits should be ready to make an announcement within a week, if not sooner.
