He is one of the best. John Nagy of Maysville has the touch. John is one of the few people in the country who repairs old phonographs.

He got interested in the old, crank-type phonographs years ago. He and his father-in-law would visit antique shops in Iowa, Illinois, and Wisconsin.

Nagy has about thirty originals. Some play disc records while others have cylinder recordings. His reputation is so good that Nagy is servicing these musical relics all over the world.

He purchases needles from England, and in some instances has to make his own parts. Nagy's repair shop is in the basement of his home. His hobby also requires a huge assortment of specialty tools.

Nagy says it's his privilege to bring the old "victrolas" back to life so that people can enjoy  the sound of music for years to come.
