Bettendorf police have made an arrest following a residential break-in Tuesday and are checking to see if there is any connection to previous burglaries in the city.
According to the city, police received a 911 call around 1:45 about a burglary in the 6000 block of Valley Drive. A person who lives there came home and found the suspect in the house. There was an altercation, but no one was hurt and the suspect ran off.
Police surrounded the neighborhood and spotted the suspect in the 3400 block of Moencks Road. Police arrested 31-year-old Justin Chambers on burglary charges, as well as assault while participating in a felony.
There have been several daytime residential burglaries reported in Bettendorf recently (see archive story). The city says an investigation is underway to see if Chambers may be connected to the other burglaries.
