A crash on Interstate 80 backed up traffic for around an hour and a half on Wednesday morning, October 3, 2012. The Scott County Sheriff's Office says the crash involved two semi-tractor trailers at the 289 mile marker.
After an investigation by the Scott County Sheriff's Office and Iowa State Patrol, the report says a semi driven by 48-year-old Kim Tomaszewski of Kearns, Utah struck a semi-tractor trailer that was parked on the shoulder.
The driver of the parked semi-tractor trailer had stopped to check on a possible wheel problem and was awaiting a break in the traffic flow when the crash occurred.
Officials say Tomaszewski was cited for improper lane usage.
Due to the extent of the crash damage and debris, I-80 was reduced to one lane traffic for about an hour and a half. One semi was hauling milk and the other was hauling toys.
According to officials, there were no injuries reported in this crash.
