Burlington: High Speed Chase Suspect Is 15-Year-Old

Police in Burlington, Iowa have two people in custody after a high speed chase in Des Moines County. Thursday afternoon, October 2, 2012, Burlington Police received a report of a stolen car from a Kum and Go convenience store.

About five minutes after the report, a Des Moines Co. Sheriff's Officer spotted the car going southbound on Highway 61.

The officer gave chase and clocked the suspect car at 110 miles per hour. The chase went into Lee County, through a construction zone until the suspect car spun out on a county road.

The suspects then tried to run, but were caught and detained a short time later.

According to the Sheriff's report, the driver was a 15 year old, wanted out of Coralville, Iowa. He's being charged with speeding, no insurance, eluding a peace officer, reckless driving, and interference with official acts.

The passenger, 21-year-old Devon Alexander Kent, was charged with interference with official acts.

The Sheriff's Office says the Burlington Police Department also has several charges of their own for both individuals.
