The man who robbed a Rock Island gas station got away Thursday morning despite an employee's efforts to stop him.
The robbery happened around 6:30AM at the Shell gas station at 3000 46th Avenue in Rock Island.
The clerk says a man walked into the business and asked him for change, then grabbed the drawer full of money when he opened it. The clerk tells TV-6 he ran after the robber, caught him at the back door and was able to snatch the cash drawer back.
The robber did get away with about 50 dollars in cash.
