Police in Clinton, Iowa have filed multiple charges against a man accused of breaking into a school and taking a swing at police officers. It began just after midnight, Monday morning, October 8, 2012, when the break-in alarm went off at Lincoln Alternative School on Bluff Boulevard in Clinton.
When officers arrived, they found a broken window and heard glass breaking. Officers then spotted Alexander Ruiz walking on 13th Avenue South. He started running away. When an officer grabbed him, police say Ruiz swung a crowbar and struck the officer in the chest. Ruiz was quickly apprehended and faces five charges, including assault on a police officer and burglary.
After arrest, it was discovered that Ruiz is also wanted on assault and burglary charges in Johnson County, Iowa, theft and burglary charges in Scott County, Iowa, and a drug charge in Bettendorf, Iowa.
