The Iowa State Extension Service confirms there are infestations of the dreaded brown marmorated stink bug in Scott County. Otherwise know as simply "stink bug", extension officials confirm the bugs have been reported in the Davenport and Bettendorf, Iowa areas.

The stink bug was first identified in the U.S. in Pennsylvania in 2001. The bugs have now been reported in 38 states.

Stink bugs feed on plant sap from fruits, vegetables, and field crops. Much like box elder bugs, they congregate on houses and buildings during the fall. Only unlike the harmless box elder bugs, stink bugs produce a disagreeable odor.
