Romney Makes Campaign Stop At Davenport Sod Farm

Updated:

The presidential campaign is getting temporarily sidelined while Hurricane Sandy shuts down the Northeast. President Barack Obama canceled campaign stops Monday morning and returned to the White House. Mitt Romney also canceled plans for Monday night and Tuesday, but kept his scheduled visit to Davenport.

With people sitting in bleachers covered in red, white and blue the Republican candidate pulled up to Seven Cities Sod in northwest Davenport Monday afternoon. During his speech, Romney spelled out his plan for change and compared himself to the president.

"His slogan is four more years. My slogan is eight more days," said Romney. Then the crowded erupted into chants, "Eight more days. Eight more days.".

Romney also told the audience, "There's no question he (Obama) will raise taxes on small business; although this is not a SMALL business," referring to the acres of high grade grass growing on the sod farm near Interstate 80.
