It can get a little confusing with so many ways to vote, so how does the Scott County Auditor keeps track of it all?

We found out Monday every person that votes is issued an ID number and that number is entered into a computer system, which tracks the ballot. When a ballot comes in workers can click that it was received. If a ballot comes in, but with a problem, they can throw that one out and issue a new one to that ID number as well. This ensures everyone gets a chance to vote and prevents voter fraud.

Iona Fisher says she got a first hand experience with the system after getting a letter from the Auditor's office, saying there was an issue with her ballot. "The word was terrified when I got my letter on Thursday," Fisher said.

She said she was concerned her ballot had gotten lost. However, that was not in the case. Instead it was not sealed, so she had to fill out a new one. She says knowing that her vote will still count despite the issue, made her feel relieved.

"I am over the moon because it makes me feel good knowing I have done what I needed to do as a citizen."

Scott County Auditor Roxanna Moritz says making sure every vote counts is her number one priority.

"I think it's important and everybody thinks this is going to be a really close election," she said.

She says issues like Fisher's are common. That's why she's been sending letters out like this to remind people to send their ballots in or alert them to a problem. She says once the ballots come in and they are complete, they are checked into the computer system, sorted and audited.
