City leaders in Galesburg will vote Monday night on a lease agreement for the old National Guard Armory building.
The owner of Strategic Securities Services wants to use the vacant building on North Broad Street as an event center. The hope is to hold sports competitions, wedding receptions and conventions in the building.
The armory needs a number of upgrades before it can be operational. If a lease is approved, the city and developer will each spend close to $150,000 on repairs and upgrades. The city would collect rent from the developer and a $1 ticket fee per person at the events.
