Veterans Day is observed annually on November 11th. This year, that lands on Sunday. But Quad Citians will be honoring veterans all weekend long.

On Saturday, there is a ceremony planned in Silvis, Ill., at the Hero Street Memorial, located at 202 1st Ave.

At Hero Park on Sunday, Silvis will hold their annual Veterans Day Ceremony. Saluting Our Veterans, Yesterday's, Today's and Tomorrow's, is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. with special guest speaker, Brigadier General Duane A. Gamble, Deputy Commanding General, U.S. Army Sustained Command.

Also on Sunday is the Davenport Veterans Day Parade and Memorial Ceremony. The parade gets going at 10:00 a.m. at the Scott County Courthouse and ends at 600 W. 4th St, Davenport, Iowa.

The Parade will include veteran's groups, antique cars, military vehicles, ROTC, patriotic tractors and more.

Lt. Gen. J. Michael Bednarek, commanding general, First Army, will speak immediately following parade at 11:00 a.m.

The West High School band will play the national anthem at the event. For more information, check out Davenport's website.

Other Sunday events include a memorial ceremony at the Rock Island National Cemetery on Arsenal Island at 1:00 p.m., and a Veterans Memorial Ceremony at Veterans Memorial Bandshell, Middle Park, in Bettendorf, Iowa.

On Monday Eagle Heights Elementary School in Clinton, Iowa and Rosewood Care Center will hold ceremonies.

In addition to these special events, City of Davenport will observe Veterans Day as a holiday on Monday, November 12, 2012. All City of Davenport offices will be closed.
