Jeep dealers, including those in the Quad Cities area, are waiting on details on a massive recall just announced Tuesday.

Starting Monday, November 12, 2012 and 7:00 a.m., crews put up road closed signs, beginning the final stage of a construction project on Kennedy Drive in East Moline. The road will be closed from 27th to 30th Avenue for utility connection and paving.

Detours will be in place from 30th Avenue to 7th Street and then to 16th and 17th Avenues and are expected to be in effect until next Sunday, November 18, 2012.

The project began in early august and the city says the work desperately needed to be done. For years the state owned the road and simply fixed it with patches. Now that the city of East Moline owns it, long-term work can be done.

According to Tim Kammler, the East Moline Director of Engineering, when the project is complete, sidewalks in the area will be replaced and the intersection at Kennedy and 30th Avenue will be reconfigured.

"We're going to patching the road, resurfacing, and we're going to be striping bicycle lanes on both sides, we'll be adding bicycle lanes to make the road more of a complete street."

Local neighborhood traffic will still be allowed so people who live in those homes affected by the construction can get access.
