At a special city council meeting Monday morning, November 12, 2012, in Clinton, Iowa, the council voted to ask the city administrator, Jeffrey Horne, to step down.

According to Mayor Mark Vulich, Horne has been absent from his duties since October 17th, 2012 and has been using sick days and vacation time to account for the time off for what is being called, personal reasons.

At Monday's meeting, the council voted unanimously to recommend that Horne resign. According to Vulich, if he agrees to resign, a resolution to accept his resignation will be voted on at a future city council meeting.
