There's good news and bad news for regular commuters using River Drive in Davenport. The good news is that the latest segment of the project is ahead of schedule. The bad news is that there will be another closure and more detours on Wed., Nov. 14.

According to the City of Davenport, the north half of the intersection of River Drive and Mound St. will be closed for a few hours in the late morning through early afternoon for resurfacing. Westbound traffic will be detoured up River Street to 11th Street, then into the existing detour. Eastbound traffic headed north will be detoured past Mound Street, to McClelland Boulevard and be routed back to Mound via River Street.

Flaggers will be located on River Drive at both Mound Street and River Street to help guide traffic.

Meanwhile, utility work is progressing on River Drive between Mound and Oneida and the road is expected, weather permitting, to reopen to one lane of traffic in each direction by the afternoon of Saturday, Nov. 17,  more than a week ahead of the projected schedule. Completion of the resurfacing of the south two lanes of River Drive between Mound and Oneida is scheduled for Monday Nov. 19.
