A Rock Island County jury returned a guilty verdict in the trial of 20-year-old Demetrius Phillips on Tuesday, November 13, 2012. Phillips was on trial for the death of his four-month-old son, Lyrick Phillips.

Baby Lyrick was unresponsive when he was brought to the hospital in November of 2010. He was transferred to Peoria where he died, less than two weeks later, in December.

The jury found Phillips guilty of First Degree Murder. A sentencing hearing is set for January 11, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. Phillips faces 20 to 60 years in prison.
