DAVENPORT, Iowa - Should the State of Iowa break away from the United States?

As of November 14 at 3:30 PM, 2,481 people have signed a petition urging Iowa to do just that.

The petition was created last Sunday, November 11, and it now joins 42 other states, including Illinois, with secession petitions.  There are two for Illinois; one has 3,753 signatures and the other 3,124.

The petitions have sprung up since last week's presidential election.
