UPDATE:  The driver of the Toyota Corolla who was killed in the crash was Lisa McDaniel, 24, of Colona, Illinois.  McDaniel was a Western Illinois University - Quad Cities graduate biology student.  According to WIU, she received her undergraduate degree in biology from WIU-Macomb in December 2011.  McDaniel transferred to WIU in Fall 2008 after attending Black Hawk College in Moline.

The uninjured driver of the Watts Garbage truck involved in the accident is Michael Brown, 45, of Davenport, Iowa.

Preliminary contributing cause of the crash at this time is believed to be failure to yield on the part of the driver of the Corolla as she pulled out from a stop sign crossing through the intersection.

Previous story:

DAVENPORT, Iowa – A 24-year-old woman was killed Thursday afternoon when her car was struck by a garbage truck at Rockingham Road and Wappelo Avenue.

Police say the woman pulled out in front of the truck to turn west on Rockingham.

The woman has not yet been identified.  The driver of the truck was not hurt.

At the accident scene, police arrested James Watts, 70, of Bettendorf.  Watts is connected with a number of QCA trucking and trash hauling companies.

Police say Watts approached the scene of the accident and refused to respond when officers asked him questions and then refused to leave the scene when asked.

Police say Watts was arrested after he "disregarded orders from four different officers."
